Broiler Production Logarithms

Broiler Production Logarithms

The broiler production cycle is one of the most difficult types of poultry production due to the numerous and diverse problems it involves, and there is no fixed program that guarantees the success of the cycle.

In my opinion, the success of the broiler cycle depends on the following factors:

A proper start.

Biosecurity.

Periodic monitoring of the cycle.

Proper therapeutic interventions.

  1. A Proper Start:

The breed of the chick and that it is free from hereditary diseases.

Early feeding to maintain the digestive and immune systems, ensuring rapid early feed conversion.

The climatic conditions inside the house appropriate for the breed at different ages (temperature program, lighting, and ventilation).

An appropriate vaccination program against the viral diseases prevalent in the region (vaccinations do not guarantee prevention of infection entry but provide a better chance for treatment and reduce mortality).

  1. Biosecurity:

This has many programs using various disinfectants, but during the cycle it is essential to prevent the entry of the causative pathogen to the birds.

  1. Periodic Monitoring of the Cycle:

From the beginning, screening for hereditary diseases using PCR (for Adeno, Reo, Anemia, and Mycoplasma).

Sensitivity testing to select the appropriate treatment.

Surveillance every one to two weeks for viral diseases using PCR.

Use of appropriate treatments at the proper time.

  1. Proper Therapeutic Interventions:

This is to obtain early and effective results and to avoid wasting medications through sensitivity testing and the use of precise dosages in a rational economic manner.

This is a brief overview of the broiler production cycle, as there are many details for each item mentioned.

Poultry is a fundamental and important pillar of the economy.
